Announcements

Hello dear blog readers! I have two announcements for today's post.

Announcement #1

One Tree Photography session fees are increasing to $125 starting May 1, 2009.

I know there are several of you out there who are planning on scheduling a session sometime in the near future, and this may throw a kink in your plans. Here's my solution. Anyone who schedules a session between now and April 30th will still pay just $75 for their session. This means you would book the session during the month of April, but the session may take place at the time of your choosing.

But what if you know you'll want a session sometime this year, but can't pin down a date quite yet? I have a solution for you, too! Buy a One Tree Photography gift card for the $75 session fee and use it anytime within the remainder of 2009. Send me an email to take advantage of either offer, and please forward this to any friends who you think may be wanting photos taken soon.

Announcement #2

Part A: One Tree Photography will be closed during July and August of 2009.

Most of you know that the reason I'll be closed is for maternity leave. Sessions will be available in September on an extremely limited basis, so be sure to book early to secure your spot.

Part B: It's a boy!

It has been a few weeks since we found out, but it has taken me that long to wrap my head around the idea of being the mother of a boy. I think I've got that under control now. Anyway, his name is Waldron Dain. Waldron is after Waldron Island which holds a very special place in my family's history. Dain is Trevor's middle name, and it seemed like a good fit. I love how distinguished Waldron sounds, but I also love the nickname we are using: Wally. If you have any doubts about Wally, just ask his big sister to say his name. Wa-wee! It doesn't get any sweeter than that.

Of course I can't post without a photo, so here's one of my first purchase for Wally.

Trevor just finished painting and installing the closet in Wally's room, and it was so fun to lay out his few belongings. I have a few more details to take care of, but once I do, I'll post some pictures of the rest of his room. Don't tell Abby, but I like it better than hers!

That's it for today! As soon as Abby wakes up from her nap we're going outside to enjoy the sunshine. Hooray!

One month old Graham

Sunday morning I met Graham and his parents, Melissa and West, for his first official photo shoot. At just over five weeks old, Graham was older than the newborns I typically photograph, and I wasn't sure what to expect from our session. As it turns out, there was no need to worry. Graham was an absolute star! So alert and wide-eyed, but mellow too! He liked to stretch out where younger babies curl up, and he didn't want to break eye-contact with the camera. It was so much fun to interact with this guy and to watch him interact with his parents. I hope you get a sense of how fun this day was from the following images.
Like I said, Graham was so ALERT! This is shot through the bars of his (extremely well accessorized) crib. I love his eyes here.
Melissa's grandmother has made her a TON of gorgeous afghans. We tried to incorporate them wherever possible. I decided to try Graham out on his tummy, and all of a sudden he just lifted himself up for my favorite shot of the day.
Daddy lulls Graham to sleep in the Moby Wrap. Ahh, the love...
Graham is adobably asleep here, but my favorite part of this photo is the view of Melissa's face (and her lashes!).
A close-up that melts me.

Melissa and West really make new parenthood look easy. Graham is wearing a hooded shawl that Melissa wore as a baby.
A shot from the loft above their bedroom.
Sweet, sweet sleep.
I believe an aunt made Graham this gorgeous wrap sweater.
And finally one of my new favorite foot shots. I love the light coming through his little toes.
Melissa and West, thank you so much for inviting me to your home to photograph beautiful little Graham. He is absolutely perfect and it really seems like you are natural, joyful parents. There are quite a few more shots to look at, but I hope you like the ones you see here. Enjoy!

Three Days Old

My dear friend Sarah gave birth to a beautiful, BIG baby boy on Wednesday. On Saturday two friends (Chrissy and Caroline) and I took a little roadtrip to see Sarah and the newest member of our extended family, Jackson. While Caroline and Chrissy grocery shopped and stocked Sarah's fridge with all kinds of goodies, I did what I do best. Here are some of the shots.

Need I say it? The bum shot.
Jackson and Marley. I was truly impressed by Marley's cooperation. I'm sure she and Jackson will be lifelong friends.
Marley gives Jackson a kiss.
Look at all the lines on his feet! Isn't it amazing that we are born with those creases already in place?
Sarah and P.J.'s house is full of beautiful wood. We dumped the pinecones out of this gorgeous bowl and filled it with baby.
P.J. set this shot up for me. Like it?
Father and son.
I love this family shot. Sarah, you look beautiful, and so in love.

Jackson looking up at mama. So sweet.

One of my absolute favorites.

Sarah and P.J., I'm so thrilled to have gotten to meet Jackson and to see you two in parental action. You are doing a beautiful job, and Jackson is so lucky to have you both. I can't wait to watch him grow and learn and change. It's an amazing trip! I hope you find some photos here to love. Enjoy!
